Solar Tubes, Sun Tunnels, Tubular Skylights

A light tunnel offers a source of light when other types of windows are not possible or when additional illumination is required in dimly lit spaces. Light tunnels are available in rigid or flexible tubing that installs on the roof. A prismatic cover finishes the look on the inside in the ceiling.
Both SR_ (rigid) and SF_ (flexible) light tunnels provide an energy-efficient source of light in areas that would otherwise rely solely on electrical lighting.

PLANNING THE SIZE AND PLACEMENT OF A LIGHT TUNNEL

The amount of light entering the room through a light tunnel depends on a number of factors, including the placement of the roofing element.

When planning the installation of the light tunnel take the following elements into account:

  • Install the roofing element on a south-facing roof where there is the longest exposure to sunlight while avoiding shady areas.
  • Install the light tunnel’s tube in the shortest possible distance between the roof and ceiling.
  • Ensure the best possible tension on the tube when installing flexible light tunnels.

When planning the size and number of light tunnels take the following elements into account:

  • The size and shape of the room, especially the room height. Larger rooms require more light tunnels.
  • The color and texture of walls, ceiling, and floor surface. Various elements in the room reflect light, while others absorb light.
  • The placement of furniture and layout of the room and what type of activities the room is used for.

The amount of light

Solar Tubes, Sun Tunnels, Tubular Skylights A light tunnel installed in the middle of a room without windows creates a simple light distribution.
Solar Tubes, Sun Tunnels, Tubular Skylights Concentrate light in one area of the room by installing a light tunnel directly over the area.
Solar Tubes, Sun Tunnels, Tubular Skylights The placement of a light tunnel too close to a wall opposite to a window may diminish the overall light in the middle of the room. The placement of furniture and the depth of the color on the walls also affect the light disbursement.

A source of natural light should be available in any living space. Unfortunately, there are interiors in which the use of vertical or roof  windows is not feasible. Rooms devoid of daylight are dark and uncomfortable. To ensure illumination in such places, installing  a light tunnel will channel natural light to the centre. Light tunnels can constitute the main or additional light source in any room.

The Light Tunnels – SF_, SRT, SR_ allow illumination of the rooms located in the central part of the building with natural light, even those in which fitting roof or vertical windows is impossible.
Production of the Light Tunnels is carried out in accordance with FAKRO manufacturing standards, which is a guarantee of the highest quality workmanship.
The Light Tunnels are a modern and ecological solution to the problem of dark rooms. After installation, they practically do not require any cleaning and maintenance.
