Milia or milk spots is a common skin condition that affects babies, teens, and adults all around the world. Getting rid of milia is not as easy as most people make it sound but it can be done at home using natural remedies which we are about to cover below.
Steaming
One way to help remove milia is by steaming, simply boil a pot of water and pour it in a large bowl, sit over it and place your head directly above it. Cover your head with a dry towel. This will help open up your pores and remove dirt and grease from under your skin which will decrease the appearance of milia if done daily.
Oatmeal scrub
Applying an oatmeal scrub daily will help you get rid of milia eventually. Simply make a paste of oatmeal and water and apply it to the affected parts of your skin daily for best results.
Tomato juice
Using tomato juice daily on your milk spots will also get you some results quickly along with steaming. Tomato juice contains high amounts of acid which is very effective in treating many skin conditions including milk spots.
Squeeze a ripe tomato and apply the juice onto the affected areas of your skin daily. Leave it on for up to an hour and wash it off with cold water.
Honey
Honey is an ancient home remedy used to treat skin conditions including milia. Apply a little bit of organic raw honey to your spots daily for 20 minutes and wash it off with warm water for best results.
Sugar and lemon scrub
MAking a sugar and lemon paste and using it to scrub your milia spots daily will help you get rid of your symptoms quickly. Make sure you massage the paste into the affected areas for up to 5 minutes before washing it off to help loosen up the bumps.
Castor oil
Applying the following castor oil remedy daily to your milia spots will help you get rid of your symptoms very fast. Mix 1 tablespoon of castor oil with 1 tablespoon of organic olive oil into an even mixture. Apply it to your skin and leave it on for up to 30 minutes before washing it off with warm water.
Tea tree oil
Tea tree oil contains antibacterial and antiseptic properties which help prevent and reduce the appearance of many skin problems. Apply a drop of tea tree oil directly on the milk spots and massage it in for a minute, leave it on for an extra 2 minutes and wash it off with warm water.
Please note that essential oils cause skin irritation in some people, therefore, we recommend getting a skin patch test before using this remedy or dilute the oil with other carrier oils such as olive oil before applying it to your skin.
