Zuiho-in
Zuiho-in – Daitokuji, a temple complex in Japan, is a world of Zen with 24 subtemples and sublime gardens. At Zuiho-in, the main garden is characterized by its vigorously raked sand, giving the impression of rough seas. The some of the stones are pointed and tall, projecting a strong and active mood, while some are flat, conveying a calm and solid feeling. Daitokuji is one of my favorite temple complexes in Japan. It’s a world of Zen temples and sublime gardens, consisting of 24 subtemples. Today, I’ve visited Ryogen-in, Obai-in, Zuiho-in and Koto-in. The main garden of Zuiho-in designed by Mirei Shigemori in the 1960’s and is characterized by its vigorously raked sand, giving the impression of rough seas.
