Vintage Green Planter, Cookson Pottery, CP 560 USA, Footed Base, Rectangular Shape, Drop Glaze, Home Decor, Entryway Decoration, Roseville by VintageDecorAddict on Etsy The gorgeous green drop-glaze Cookson Pottery planter is in excellent condition. The interior of this gorgeous ceramic planter is very clean. It does not appear that it has been used to any extent. Also, the raised base sits on four feet – one on each corner. The raised footed-base of this beautiful planter enhances the side accents. Also, the beautiful rolled sides have continuous pinched or woven-like accent reliefs. Another interesting feature of this particular Cookson planter can be noticed at the top of the rim. While the rim has a general rectangular shape, the rim is irregular in that it has a subtle wave on one side. This makes this beautiful planter that much more special because it gives it more of a one-off appearance. In addition, the drop-glaze design around the rim highlights the overall rectangular shape and elegant rolled sides. According to references, in 1945 Gerald Cookson started Cookson Pottery in Roseville Ohio. The company was sold in 1982 but remained in business until 1995. The Cookson Pottery molds were made by Ungemach Pottery and the glazes were applied at Cookson Pottery. Please note that the four feet on the bottom give the impression that they have been damaged as each of the feet have been chipped away to some degree. Three of the feet have more chipped away that the fourth. While the feet on the planter are not perfectly level, the little areas on each foot are too purposeful to have been by accident. While we could be incorrect, it seems these places that are only on the small round protruding feet were done just after production to either cut the planter away from a surface it had dried on or in an attempt to level the planter. Most likely they took place while the surface of each foot was being shaved down it caused a part of each foot to come off. Furthermore, if this were from dropping the planter it would mean that the planter would had to have dropped at nearly an almost level plane for the three feet to have had the chipped away sections. Also, while the fourth foot does have a little chipped place, it also has material that appears to have been added to the foot to further help level the planter. In addition, if the planter had fallen in such a way as to cause the places on the feet, it is highly likely the complete floor of the planter would have been cracked and/or the planter completely destroyed. While we are almost certain that this was not a consistent practice by Cookson Pottery, it is sometimes consistent in the production of ceramic pieces. There are no breaks, cracks, chips, or repair places on this gorgeous green ceramic Cookson Pottery planter. There are some vintage wear, age, and rub marks on the planter – mainly on the four feet on the base from where it has come in contact with different surfaces. There are some very small imperfections on the interior of the planter in the form of a very small piece of material under the glaze. Also, there is some crazing happening under the glaze which is not due to damage but to original materials used during the time of production and age. The decorative possibilities for this beautiful green ceramic drop-glaze planter are many. The entryway or living area would be enhanced by the addition of this gorgeous ceramic treasure. Also, the open collectibles’ shelf or bookcase would welcome this gorgeous Cookson Pottery planter for its green color and rolled sides. In addition, the growing pottery collection will increase in value and interest upon the arrival of this gorgeous green Cookson Pottery planter. The collector will appreciate this beautiful green drop-glaze Cookson Pottery planter for its excellent condition, deep green color, rolled sides, and continuous pinched or woven-like accent reliefs. The beautiful green Cookson Pottery planter weighs 35.0 oz. The gorgeous rectangular shaped green drop-glaze ceramic Cookson Pottery succulent planter measures 10.5″ in length x 5.25″ wide x 3.5″ tall. The inside of this gorgeous green drop-glaze Cookson Pottery planter measures 9.5″ in length from inside to inside x 4 1/8″ wide from front to back. ***Free Shipping in the USA ***Shipping will include insurance ***Shipping for Everywhere Else on the planet: If you are from outside the United States and you wish to purchase this product put in your correct address and it should populate a quote. Where only an approximate measurement is available we will put approximately in the listing. ***Our Measurements for clothing are taken with the garment laying flat with closures fastened – zippers are zipped and buttons buttoned. ***The Bust measurement is obtained by measuring across the flat chest of the garment from armpit to armpit and then multiplying that number by two. To get the chest measurement simply divide the Bust by two. ***We clean our vintage inventory of surface dirt and dust before we list it on our site. We would not want to receive something dirty so we are not going to send our customers something with original dust or dirt. Therefore, after shipping we generally recommend all items be cleaned before use. This is not always because they are considered unclean but simply to make you aware of the possibility of needing to be cleaned after shipping and handling. This does three things: (1) It helps you know your item, (2) It helps you ensure your item is clean according to your standards, and (3) It removes any dust or grime that may have come from the shipping and delivery process. ***Unless noted in the description, we normally do not polish or repaint our inventory as many of our customers prefer the vintage patina look over a new painted or polished appearance. ***Please pay close attention to the pictures as they may show more than I may be able to explain. ***Please note that sometimes we enhance our pictures for sharpness and clarity. ***We aim to be good stewards of our planet; therefore, we may use or reuse boxes and/or packing that are clean and ship worthy. ***The year of production or year-it-was-made is an estimate based on experience, similar items, and/or appearance. ***Textiles and Fabrics such as linens, tapestries, clothing, tablecloths, or simple craft materials may be wrinkled or have lines upon arrival as they are folded for shipping. It is recommended they be laid out or hung up. ***As is common with pre-owned items they could have little marks that are not so easily detectable – we refer to these as vintage wear and rub marks. While I do personally inspect each item, I can miss small marks that may not show up with regular inside light. That being said, I try to be very picky and careful to make sure the details are explained truthfully, honestly, and upfront. ***Virtually all pre-owned items have vintage wear and rub marks. This is simply a term that we have coined to point out that because: (1) they are older, (2) most likely they are not in their original plastic, wrapping, or packaging, (3) have been stored, (4) transported, (5) and handled – they are very likely to have little, small, or slight discolorations, marks, places, wear, etc. Hence, this is why we often have longer descriptions. We try very hard to make sure you know what we know. ***We encourage you to read our “Story” section to get to know more about our shop @ https://www.etsy.com/your/shops/VintageDecorAddict/story ***We invite you to check out our vintage blog at https://www.vintagedecoraddict.com/blog ***Please note that since we offer free shipping in the United States, the actual first Shipping costs incurred due to the transaction from the seller to the buyer will be deducted from any returned and/or refundable purchases with the exception of missing items, damages from shipping, listing, and/or condition errors, along with full compliance of Etsy return and refund standards.
