January Work Outfits Week One!

14 dress For Work with flats ideas
Jules in Flats – Maxi Floral Kimono with T-Shirt Dress for Work (Business Casual Winter Workwear on a Budget) Hi everyone! Here’s a look at what I wore to my first week back at work in 2019! I’m not going to lie, my first few days back at work this year were rough. January in general is usually pretty quiet for me at work, (which is why I insisted Tony and I go on vacation this month – we leave for Costa Rica tomorrow!), but the first day and half we didn’t have access to email so it was really tough to 1. get back into the work mindset 2. try and figure out things to do that didn’t involve email! Anyway, I was able to get back into the work mindset and made some good strides the next week, just in time to leave for vacation! LOL I read this Instagram caption by Bri from DesignLoveFest that really resonated with me: “every year like clockwork I crawl out of the holiday vacation haze and have no idea what i’m doing”. Does anyone else feel this way? I keep my work life very separate from my personal life – I don’t have work email on my phone except when I travel for work, I don’t check work email when I’m not at work and I kind of just turn my work brain off everyday when I leave the gallery. So I think after 10 days of really not thinking about work at all (except for that weird bad dream I had about it over Christmas) it’s hard for me to get back into that mindset. Be sure to sure to check out the Closet Tour video if you’ve ever wondered how I choose what to wear everyday or how I organize my closet! I wanted to do a Favourite Outfits of 2018 or a collage of the entire year, but the collage turned out to be a massive file (obviously LOL) and I couldn’t get the size to format correctly so that was kind of a bust and then after being in the Okanagan over Christmas Tony and I both got sick and blogging was traded in for hibernating on the couch with You and HGTV. Other than both getting sick, we had a great holiday! We drove up to the Okanagan on December 22nd and the roads were pretty dry (ie, no snow) and there was barely any traffic (yay for leaving at 2pm!). Tony brought this puzzle to work on and him and my Mum really got into it! It was kind of their thing while having morning coffee and at night after dinner. Often we will get to have a White Christmas in the Okanagan but this year it was dry and sunny! Of course it snowed on Boxing Day LOL. We spent lots of time with my sister and her kids, Tony brought some board games that he taught us all how to play and on Boxing Day night we went to see Spider-Man Into the Spider-Verse. We saw my brother and his wife a bunch too, we had dinner with them on Christmas Eve (they have a tradition of doing a seafood dinner so we had King Crab legs) and saw them for Christmas brunch at my sister’s and for dinner after Spiderman on Boxing Day. Normally my Mum hosts Christmas dinner but since we were a smaller group this year (two of my cousins and their partners couldn’t make it) my aunt offered to host. It was a nice change but so different for us not preparing all afternoon and then cleaning up after everyone leaves! We were at a bit of a loss on what do to with ourselves LOL For Christmas Tony shopped for me exclusively at Lululemon, which I was not mad about at all! He got me a pair of Align pants (the BEST), a yoga mat, a hot yoga towel and a yoga mat bag (I do hot yoga about once a week). I exchanged the yoga mat for a lighter one and while I was there I bought myself a new pair of Wunder Under Crops to replace a severely pilling pair I’ve had for years. During the Boxing Week sales I also bought myself a pair of 721 Levi’s (thanks Crystalin Marie & Brooklyn Blonde!), and these flats from Steve Madden. I love the colour!! I also ordered these mules from SM but they just emailed me to say they’re out of stock, so we’ll see. It says they are still available online so I tried re-ordering them! Also before the holidays Ashley Roberson influenced me to buy these Rag & Bone jeans. As you know, most of what I wear is inexpensive. But I have a weak spot for designer denim and in my experience it is 100% worth it for quality and fit. That doesn’t mean I like spending $200 on a pair of jeans, but I will do it every so often if it means they are going to fit like a glove and last for 5+ years. Anyway the jeans were on sale at Nordstrom, I had two gift cards to use and for some reason I was able to get free shipping and didn’t have to pay any duties. I usually don’t shop at Nordstrom online because of the cost of shipping & duties to Canada (for example, a pair of $95 SM flats at Nordstrom online would cost me another $18 shipping and $28 duties). They arrived a couple of days ago and I am in love! They are the right length for me (I’m 5’3″ and this never happens), skinny all the way to the ankle, high waisted but stretchy so they don’t dig into your tummy, not too stretchy so they don’t bag out. They are definitely going to be my new go-to dark denim. Sorry old J.Brands, I think it’s time for you to go! For Tony’s Christmas presents I bought him a Herschel neck pillow (he’s excited to try it out tomorrow) and toiletry bag (which we are returning), a set of Ghostbusters meeples, a board game expansion (which he already had – fail) and a wireless charging pad for his iPhone. He was really excited about 3 out of 5 of those things so that’s not bad for me! I am usually terrible at buying him Christmas and Birthday gifts whereas Anniversary and Valentines Day I knock it out of the park 🙂 Anyway, like I said above we are off to Costa Rica tomorrow for two weeks! I don’t have any blog posts planned or scheduled for while we are away so it will be quiet on here but I plan on posting lots of vacation pics and videos to Insta Stories if you want to follow along! Thank you so much for reading! xo JULES

January Outfits Week Two

14 dress For Work with flats ideas
Jules in Flats – Plaid Knit Sheath Dress with Long Duster Cardigan (Business Casual Winter Workwear on a Budget) Hi everyone! How are you? Vancouver was hit with a snow storm this week, so things got a little crazy! Since historically we have a warmer climate, the city has never been fully prepared for when we get snow. There just aren’t enough snow plows for the whole city, and they always seem to be deployed half a day late. Our public transit isn’t properly equipped for snow, either, so the buses are always backed up, late, and / or stuck because they can’t get up hills. Our Sky Train (comparable to a subway system, but the majority is above ground) system is OK in the snow, but if it gets too icy it’s out of commission. Needless to say, this week a bit of a disaster for getting around! Luckily I live close to work, the gym, and a small grocery store, so I was OK! This is a thick, chunky knit sweater from H&M a couple of years ago. I love it! I don’t know why I decided to wear my black jeans instead of dress pants, but I know I wanted to wear boots since it was cold & snowy and I wanted to keep my feet warm! Sweater by H&M (old, similar) High Rise Rocket Jeans by Citizens of Humanity Faux Suede Ankle Boots by Old Navy (old, similar) Double Disc Pendant Necklace by ? It’s from J.Crew Factory a year or two ago and while ruffle sleeves aren’t trendy anymore, I still like it. I haven’t worn these patent oxfords in awhile either, so they were a nice change-up, too. Ruffle Sleeve Sweater by J.Crew Factory (old, similar) Plaid Mid-Rise Pixie Ankle Pants by Old Navy Gemelli Patent Oxfords by Aldo Double Hoop Earrings by Joe Fresh (similar) Adorned Necklace by Melanie Auld (JHxMA collection, Christmas gift from T!) Pearl Hair Pins from Amazon FAVLUX $ 24.97 Get Sale Alert Old Navy $ 14.97 $ 34.99 Get Sale Alert Aldo $ 39.98 $ 65 Get Sale Alert Liz Claiborne $ 5.76 $ 12 Get Sale Alert Numblartd 5Pcs Vintage Artificial Pearl Gold Alloy Barrettes Hair Clip Bobby Pins – Women Lady Girls Fashion Sweet Side Clip Hairpin Hair Accessories for Wedding Bridal $ 12.57 Get Sale Alert This outfit is a little shapeless and you know what? I’m okay with that! Not everything has to accentuate the narrowest part of your body or make your legs look longer, boobs bigger, hips smaller or whatever whatever! Sometimes just wearing two things with polka dots is enough. Sweater by Old Navy (old, similar) Polka Dot Blouse by Forever 21 (old, similar) Mini Skirt by H&M Tights by J.Crew Polka Dot Mesh Flats by J.Crew Factory (sold out, similar) Lark & Ro $ 8.1 $ 9.85 Get Sale Alert Cynthia Steffe $ 79 Get Sale Alert H&M $ 24.99 Get Sale Alert J.Crew $ 19.5 Get Sale Alert Ann Taylor $ 138 Get Sale Alert Today we are going to pick out tile for our bathroom reno! We haven’t signed the contract yet, but it’s going to happen, so we need to start making decisions in case things need to be ordered in, etc. We are going with a larger (12 x 24″) light grey tile for the floor, and a marble-like white tile with grey veining for the shower walls, which will probably be in a large tile size as well – we have to see what’s out there! I’ve been saving lots of bathroom inspo on my Pinterest board if you’re interested in following along over there! Last weekend we went to the Kohler store to look at fixtures and did find a line that we liked, but I want to see if I can find similar items that are less expensive, so that is on my to-do list this weekend! Here’s what else we’ve been up to! Watching: Last weekend we went and saw 1917 and wow, it’s good. Very powerful. Watch it in the theatre if you can. I think we have The Farewell downloaded so we may watch that this weekend, and I think Uncut Gems is going to be out soon too – a colleague of mine is going to see it this weekend but said it was coming for download on Sunday. Don’t F*ck with Cats: Hunting an Internet Killer. We watched the first episode and it is very disturbing. I couldn’t go to bed right after watching it so I made T put on Jimmy Fallon to try and forget about it before I went to bed. I don’t need to be having nightmares about that shit! Reading: Nothing, sadly! I finished Where the Crawdads Sing over the holiday break (so good, highly recommend!) and borrowed When God Was a Rabbit from my mum, but I haven’t really gotten into it yet. Other than that I’ve just been reading my usual blogs! Buying: J.Crew Tights. So T had to return a couple of things downtown last weekend before we went to the theatre to see 1917. We didn’t have a ton of time, so I wasn’t planning on trying anything on (nor was I in the mood to), but I’ve been thinking about trying some new tights, and saw these ones at J.Crew. As you can see in my outfits above, I wore them this week and I really like them! They are opaque, as advertised; they have a tag in the back so you can see if you are wearing them the right way (lol); and I made sure to NOT get the “control top” version. That’s my problem with the other tights I have, the control top was too aggressive, so it wasn’t comfortable. Ole Henricksen Banana Bright Eye Cream. Okay so technically I didn’t buy this, but I got a sample from Sephora. If you read my blog post last week, you know I was going to try and buy this mini set. Well, they didn’t have it in stock and I wasn’t about to pay full price for the eye cream, so the SA gave me a sample which I’ve been trying out this week. TBH, it doesn’t really seem to be doing anything. I’ll keep using it until the sample is gone, but I don’t see myself buying it after that, especially considering the price! Eating: Leftover lasagna. Tony made lasagna last Friday and we’ve been eating it ever since! The first night I had some stomach pains, I think because there was so much cheese, but I adjusted after that! #the stew. Alison Roman shows you how to make it on YouTube, and you can get the recipe here, which is what I did. I made it one night for dinner and then took it work for lunch for the rest of the week. It’s more like soup IMO but it was good, and easy! Chicken Schnitzel + Broccolini. This is one of our easy go-to dinners that I can grab from the small specialty grocery store by our house on my way home from work / the gym. The schnitzel is pre-made but cold (in the deli section), so we just reheat it in a frying pan and then add whatever veggie we want on the side. I like getting broccolini because it comes in a nice pre-portioned package, but sometimes we grab a premade salad, some roasted potatoes, regular broccoli, or kale. Burgers. This burger place is right by our house so we go there a lot! My go-to ATM is The Big Dipper, but I don’t even usually use the dip. Unless I’m super hungry, half a burger plus a bit of salad is usually satisfying, and then I eat the other half the next day for lunch or dinner! Working Out: Monday and Wednesday I did a group fitness strength/weights class called BodyPump. Tuesday I did intervals on the treadmill followed by a short ab workout. I’ve been testing out the MoveWith App for a couple of weeks and am liking it so far! If you’ve heard or used Aaptiv, it’s the same concept, but free! I skipped yoga last night because I was worried about driving in the snow, but I hope to go next week! What have you all been up to? LMK in the comments below! Thank you all so much for visiting! xo JULES

Thank you all so much for visiting! xo JULES

47 Stylish Work Outfits Ideas With Flats Cool 47 Stylish Work Outfits Ideas With Flats… #Flats #ideas #Outfits Hi everyone! It’s from J.Crew Factory a year or two ago and while ruffle sleeves aren’t trendy anymore, I still like it. I haven’t worn these patent oxfords in awhile either, so they were a nice change-up, too. Sometimes just wearing two things with polka dots is enough.
