hundreds of FREE childrens books

Are you or your kids “hopelessly plugged in” to the digital world?

Goodnight iPad, a new picture book that parodies the go-to bedtime tale, Goodnight Moon, hits shelves later this month, and it’s a goofy must-read for parents. In the book, which you can preview here (video), “a fed-up old woman” attempts to put her grand-bunnies to sleep amid “the bings, blongs, and beeps / Of e-mails and tweets.” The book’s bunnies are, like yours,’ way too busy for sleep: they’re mesmerized by a huge LCD Wi-Fi HDTV, playing Doom, or watching viral videos on Facebook.

With sweet and knowing lines like “Goodnight plugs / And power lights / That guide us to pee / In the darkness of night,” you may not even miss the original’s red balloons, kittens, and ancient-looking telephones.
